Appointment of managing director for Arriva vehicle rental

Arriva plc, one of Europe's leading transport providers, hasannounced the appointment of Dom McKenna as managing director ofArriva Vehicle Rental.

He will join Arriva in November 2005 and will be responsible forguiding the business forward as it seeks growth and developmentopportunities in the market.

Mr McKenna previously held the position of operations director,Parcelforce Worldwide. In the last three years he has been a keymember of the team returning the company to profitability throughimproved customer service, reduced costs and targeted organicgrowth. During this time, among other things, he also overhaulednetwork logistics and improved the health and safety performance torecord levels.

He has held other challenging positions in the Royal Mail andPost Office Group, including director & general manager,Europe, where he focused on turning businesses around anddeveloping sales.

Mr McKenna will report to Arriva main board director DavidMartin, group managing director – operations and deputy chiefexecutive.

Biographical note

Dom McKenna was born in 1966 and graduated from BradfordUniversity in 1989. He began his career with The Post Office Groupin 1989 and completed his MBA in 1996. During his career in thePost Office he undertook a number general management posts as wellas sales, marketing and major change. In 1998 he established andlead the mergers and acquisitions department.
