Arriva appoints Liz as deputy company secretary

Arriva plc is strengthening its company secretarial team withthe appointment of Liz Thorpe as deputy company secretary. Liz willtake responsibility for a number of key projects including work onpensions and corporate governance.

Company secretary, David Turner, said of the appointment:

I am delighted that someone with the wealth and breadthof experience that Liz holds is joining us at Arriva. I'm sure thatshe will be an invaluable asset to the company as it continues itsdevelopment.

Liz, a former Heaton Grammar School student, has held previousroles at Whitbread plc, BG plc and Thames Water plc brings with hersubstantial experience of plc company secretarial work.

Liz is looking forward to joining Arriva and said of herappointment:

I am delighted to be joining Arriva at such an excitingtime for the business.
As deputy company secretary I will spend much of mytime on project work such as schemes for employees, pensions, andcorporate governance.
There are a number of challenges involved in workingfor such a large and innovative plc and I am looking forward togetting on with what I'm sure will prove to be an exciting andrewarding role.

Liz is relocating to Lanchester near Durham, from Reading, andhas two grown up daughters.
