Don’t I know you from somewhere? Pals work together in merseyside and umm quasser

Four employees from Arriva North West and Wales who were called up to support the war in Iraq are stationed together in Umm Quasser, on the border between Iraq and Kuwait.

Sweltering in 50 degree centigrade heat, the three bus drivers and one coachbuilder are representing the 165 Port and Maritime Regiment and are beginning to miss family, friends, home and beer!

Copies of the Arriva employee newsletter have been sent to the men to keep them up-to-date with what their colleagues are up to, some of whom are also writing letters to keep spirits up.

The four are:

  • Staff Sargeant John Booth, bus driver, based at Bootle.
  • Corporal Gary Garside, shunter supervisor, based at Huyton.
  • Lance Corporal Jeff Milligen, bus driver, based at Bootle.
  • Lance Corporal Peter Kerevan, bus driver, based at Speke.

Arriva North West and Wales managing director, Bob Hind said:

These men have been away doing their bit since January and we are trying to give as much support and encouragement to them as we can. Hopefully, it will not be too long before we see them back home, safe and sound.
