Opportunity at Arriva

Arriva, the transport services organisation, has pledged itscommitment to valuing difference in the work place, by becoming amember of Race for Opportunity.

Race for Opportunity works with affiliated organisations to lookat race issues relating to employment, business development,community involvement and encouraging the more specific targetingof marketing.

Arriva is also a member of 'Opportunity now', a business-ledcampaign that works with employers to realise the economicpotential and business benefits that women at all levels contributeto the workforce.

Arriva has launched a programme which looks at diversity, andrecognises the changes in the world in which it operates, and whichimpact on both its employees and customers.

Membership of Race for Opportunity and Opportunity now willassist Arriva to create an environment that maximises the potentialof all employees and future employees without anyone beingdisadvantaged.

Both Race for Opportunity and Opportunity now are part ofBusiness in the community (BitC), an organisation set up to helpbusinesses contribute to the social and economic regeneration oflocal communities, by sharing their skills, expertise, influenceand time.

Arriva is a member of BitC and is involved in a number ofinitiatives to support the local communities in which it operatesacross the UK. Activities include playing a key role in the RuralAction initiative to assist companies make a positive impact inrural communities, as well as the mentoring of youngsters to helpthem make the transition from school to the world of work.
