Rail company launches Welsh language phone line

Welsh speakers will now be able to contact their local railcompany through the medium of Welsh thanks to a new CustomerServices facility launched by Arriva Trains Wales/Arriva TrenauCymru.

The company has introduced the Welsh language phone line as partof major improvements to its customer services department whichincludes longer opening hours and a state-of-the-art new telephonesystem.

Ian Bullock, customer services director for Arriva TrainsWales/Trenau Arriva Cymru, said:

As the national train operator of Wales, it is ourpolicy to positively encourage the use of the Welsh language and tofurther improve the availability of bilingualinformation.
We are committed to delivering the highest qualitytrain services and customer service across the whole of Wales.Contact with our customers is the key to running a successfulrailway and a Welsh language customer services facility willhopefully encourage more of our customers to give us their valuablefeedback and help us to deliver the services theywant,

he said.

The new bilingual customer services facility follows the recentinstallation of a £2.5 million real-time customer informationsystem at 46 stations in Wales, which includes both bilingual audioannouncements and visual displays.

Customers wishing to use the Welsh language service should callthe normal Arriva Trains Wales customer services number on 08456061 660 and choose the relevant option.
