European transport group Arriva has announced the appointments of two country-based managing directors within their Central and Eastern European region.

Daniel Adamka has been appointed managing director for the group’s operations within the Czech Republic.

Mr Adamka, who was previously in a business development role within the Arriva-acquired Veolia Transport Central Europe (VTCE), will now oversee the development and continued integration of the former VTCE businesses and Arriva’s existing operations within the Czech Republic. Following the acquisition in May 2013, Arriva now has some 3,200 employees and operates 2,000 buses and five train sets across the country.

Arriva has also announced the appointment of Laszlo Ivan as managing director for its operations in Slovakia.

A respected transport professional, Laszlo has played a key role in Arriva’s development across Slovakia and Hungary since joining the business in 2009. He will now lead the growth of Arriva within Slovakia where the group operates 840 vehicles and employs some 1,600 people across its Nove Zamky, Michalovce and Nitra businesses.

Radim Novak, managing director for Arriva’s Central and Eastern European region, said: “Both Daniel and Laszlo have first-class credentials within the transport sector and are both perfectly positioned to lead our businesses in the Czech Republic and Slovakia respectively.

“With their teams, they will be concentrating on developing Arriva’s presence in both countries, building on our already strong relations with customers and client bodies and most importantly, providing innovative multi-modal solutions in the towns and cities where we operate.

“It is an exciting time across the whole of the region and I look forward to working closely with them in the months and years ahead.”
