15-year contract win unlocks €300 million investment in new long-distance electric train fleet.
The contract supports Arriva’s pan-European strategy to grow in liberalised markets and invest in sustainable passenger transport.
New contract will significantly grow Arriva’s network in the West Bohemia region and provide new services and capacity for travellers between Prague, Pilsen region and Karlovy Vary region, close to the German border.

Arriva wins new seven-year public transport contract in Croatia
Arriva has been awarded a new Public Service Contract in Lika-Senj county, reinforcing its position in Croatia’s evolving passenger transport market and expanding its footprint in the region.
The seven-year contract, signed today, starts immediately and will see Arriva deliver enhanced connectivity across rural communities on 23 routes, increasing overall network coverage.
The win supports Arriva’s growth strategy and commitment to delivering reliable and accessible public transport services across Europe.

Arriva Group submits open access rail application to connect Newcastle and Brighton, via London Gatwick
New services operated by Arriva’s Grand Central would introduce a direct rail connection between the Northeast and Midlands to London Gatwick and the South Coast.
Making better use of available network capacity, the proposed route would connect underserved communities in the UK and enhance long-distance connectivity without the need to interchange through London.
The application reflects Arriva’s wider European strategy to connect people and places through sustainable transport solutions, strengthening regional economies and supporting modal shift.

Arriva Group invests in new battery hybrid train fleet in boost to UK rail industry
Order worth around £300 million for fleet of new trains, which will increase seats by
20 per cent, improving capacity and connectivity.
45 rail cars to be manufactured at Hitachi Rail in the North East and financed by Angel Trains, helping secure highly skilled jobs and unlocking a new advanced manufacturing opportunity for rail.
State-of-the-art ‘tri-mode’ train technology has proven its ability to cut emissions and fuel costs by around 30 per cent to support UK Government’s decarbonisation agenda.
Announcement is made from Hitachi’s Newton Aycliffe factory and attended by the Secretary of State for Transport, Heidi Alexander MP.

Arriva Group’s Chiltern Railways announced as East West Rail operator
Services expected to start later this year, linking the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor and connecting Milton Keynes to Oxford for the first time in 60 years.
The new services operated on the line are expected to boost connectivity and drive economic growth across the region.
The expansion of Chiltern’s network will create new jobs and boost the shift to rail for commuters and leisure travellers alike.

Arriva Group to submit application for expanded UK open access rail connections in Yorkshire and the Humber
Services would bring direct London connection to Grimsby and Cleethorpes by extending existing open access routes with Grand Central.
Application will be notified to Network Rail today and submitted to the Office of Road and Rail, commencing a period of consultation with industry.
New services could start in December 2026, bringing additional capacity and improved connectivity to underserved areas.
