Arriva completes Eurobus acquisition

Leading European transport operator Arriva today announced ithas completed the purchase of 80 per cent of Interbus Invest*, theholding company of Eurobus Invest**, which provides bus services inHungary and Slovakia.

Completion of the deal, announced on 14 April 2008, follows therecent clearance by the Slovak Merger Authority. It takes thenumber of countries in which Arriva operates to 12.

Arriva chief executive David Martin said: “This latestacquisition means we now have a controlling stake in an establishedbusiness in two exciting new markets which have real potential forgrowth.

“The Eurobus management team has valuable specificknowledge of operating transport services in Hungary and Slovakia.Their market insights combined with Arriva’s experience ofdeveloping country by country across Europe gives us all thecapabilities we need to develop these opportunities withconfidence.”

In Hungary, Eurobus Invest operates through a joint venturecompany VT-Transman†.  In Slovakia it operates throughtwo 60 per cent owned subsidiaries, SAD NovéZámky†† in the south west and SADMichalovce‡ in the east.
