Arriva Denmark wins contract and will run electric buses in Copenhagen

Arriva Denmark wins contract and will run electric buses in Copenhagen: Delivering bus services in Denmark

Arriva Denmark has announced it has been awarded a contract by public transport agency Movia to run several bus routes in Copenhagen, Ballerup and Egedal, from December 2019.

As part of the agreement, existing buses on one route, line 2A, will be replaced by 21 electric buses, significantly reducing pollution in the city. The new buses will be 18 metres long and run along a 31 kilometre route across the city, taking in 54 stops.

Jens Boe Jacobsen, Business Development Director, Arriva Denmark, said: “Reducing congestion and pollution is important to Arriva, and these new electric buses will make a big contribution to doing just that. We also want to encourage more people out of their cars onto a bus.

“We look forward to welcoming passengers onto route 2A, and the other routes we will be running.”

Frank Jensen, Mayor of Copenhagen, added: “We have big ambitions to make Copenhagen even greener. We are working hard to replace all existing buses with green alternatives as soon as possible, so that people can breathe deeply and enjoy the health benefits travelling by bus can bring.”
