Arriva Denmark wins two CSR Awards

Arriva Denmark has won two awards at this year’s prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility Awards in Holstebro.

The CSR Awards celebrate companies that include social responsibility in their way of doing business, attracting a host of prominent speakers and CSR professionals each year. As the only company nominated in two categories at this year’s event, Arriva Denmark was presented with both the CSR People Prize and the CSR Diversity Prize by the Danish CSR Foundation, having demonstrated corporate social responsibility at all levels.

Arriva Denmark’s commitment to corporate social responsibility has seen the company implement a number of initiatives in recent years aimed at improving the diversity and health of its employees. The most notable has been a health program called ‘A Good Life with Arriva’ where Arriva health advisors travel the country offering health checks and lifestyle advice, including blood pressure measurement, dietary guidance and courses in smoking cessation and mental health.

Managing Director, Nikolaj Wendelboe is pleased to see Arriva Denmark’s efforts recognised: “Having been nominated in two categories, we had hoped that we would win one prize, but didn’t expect to win them both. It is absolutely fantastic and pays tribute to the employees that make their colleagues feel welcome every day – no matter their religion, ethnicity or sexuality.”

He added: “Corporate social responsibility is a question of being a conscientious employer with a genuine interest in creating better lives for current and future generations. The efforts are not only rewarded by increased employee satisfaction and a more sustainable society, but also by better financial results for the company. We see this every day in Arriva and that is why it makes sense on every level to work strategically with corporate social responsibility.”

Arriva Denmark currently has a diversity board of 21 managers and employees that meet up twice a year to discuss current issues. The company also has its own diversity manager and all managers are trained in diversity management to ensure the different skill sets of its employees are put to good use.
