Arriva North East scoops three top safety awards

Sunderland-based bus operator Arriva North East has scoopedthree top safety awards from The Royal Society for the Preventionof Accidents (RoSPA).

Safety conscious Arriva are the winners of Gold Awards for boththe Management of Health and Safety and Management of Road Riskcategories in this year’s RoSPA Health and Safetyawards.

Recognising its strong health and safety management systemsRoSPA has also shortlisted Arriva as one of the top three nationalperformers for the Management of Occupational Road RiskTrophy. Arriva has secured a Major Award in this category andwill find out if its been successful in securing the top trophy ata ceremony next month.

Winning the awards reinforces Arriva’s commitment toensuring the safety of its employees and customers as its numberone priority, and clearly demonstrates high levels of performancein this crucial area.

Our recent customer and employee surveys have shown markedimprovements in responses relating to safety by both passengers andemployees. The Managing Occupational Road Risk Trophy Major Award will bepresented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel,on 15 May, alongside Safety & Health Expo 2008, the UK’spremier health and safety at work exhibition.
