Arriva has teamed up with GoWarm to help its North East England employees reduce their individual carbon footprints.

The GoWarm Arriva project will see employees able to benefit from insulation measures in their own homes, heavily subsidised by GoWarm, reducing household carbon emissions by as much as one tonne each year as well as saving the employees up to £300 a year on their energy bills.

In addition, the scheme will provide employees with work-friendly appointment times which means that they won’t need to take time off work to wait for surveyors and installers to carry out the work.

Francis King, head of public relations at Arriva, said: "We are working to reduce the environmental impact of our public transport services and to encourage people to reduce the impact of their travel by using public transport where possible.

"The initiative with GoWarm gives Arriva’s 2,000 people here in the North East an opportunity to make their own homes more energy efficient and have a significant impact on reducing carbon emissions while saving money."

The GoWarm project has being running successfully right across the North East Region since the end of 2007 and has so far helped more than 65,000 householders, and has recently extended its operations into North and West Yorkshire.

"It’s great to be able to work with forward-thinking companies like Arriva," said GoWarm Director, Karen Hindhaugh. "We want to help as many people as possible to insulate their homes. However we recognise that many people are out at work during the day and therefore need appointments that fit around their working hours which is what we are aiming to provide through the GoWarm Arriva project."
