Depot delight! Facilities transformed at Arriva in Johnstone: Facilities transformed at Arriva in Johnstone

A vision to transform a bus depot into a depot for the 21 stcentury has now become a reality following the completion ofArriva's Johnstone depot. To mark this important event Joan Aitken,traffic commissioner for Scotland, kindly agreed to officiallylaunch the new facilities.

There were celebrations all round as the depot's refurbishmentwas successfully completed: gone are the outdated facilities, thepoorly lit building, and the crowded areas. In their place is abright building with areas to relax during breaks, proper messfacilities, a training suite – comprising of instructorsoffice, learning centre equipped with computers and a theory testroom.

Ian Craig, director, and general manager said:

The wheels for this project were set in motion 18months ago, the refurbishment project took 5 months, so it isreally good to see all our plans come to fruition.
We would also like this opportunity to thank thetraffic commissioner for taking time out of her busy schedule tore-open the depot.

Mike Cooper, managing director UK Regions, added:

I am sure that the upgrades at Johnstone have created amuch more pleasant environment for all 230 employees who are basedthere. The investment demonstrates our confidence in Johnstonedepot and its future.
