Double celebration for Arriva at UK safety awards

Arriva risk manager Roger Goode has been awarded the Road RiskManager of the Year title at Brake's 'Fleet Safety Forum Awards forExcellence 2007'.

The prestigious awards recognise the achievements of those whohave worked significantly to improve fleet safety.

Roger, who lives in Birstall and works for Arriva in Yorkshire,said: "I'm delighted to have won the award. I couldn't haveachieved it without the support from depot management and indeedthe performance of our drivers."

Arriva Yorkshire managing director Phil Stone added: "The awardrecognises a number of key initiatives that have contributed toroad safety. We're very proud of Roger and are delighted that hisefforts have been recognised."

In a double celebration, bus operator Arriva North East was'highly commended' for its development and use of driver qualitymonitoring over the last four years. Driving standards haveimproved every year since the scheme was introduced.
