Spring cleaning is a year round job for Arriva’s army!

As the nights become lighter and signs of spring arrive, manypeople's thoughts turn to spring cleaning. And if your annualspring clean gets you down, then spare a thought for Arriva'sunseen army of cleaners – they undertake the mammoth task ofcleaning every one of Arriva's 6,000 buses across the UK everynight!

Hundreds of bus cleaners swoop on Arriva's buses as they finishtheir day's work on the road, annually using an amazing 13,000litres of disinfectant, 32,000 mop heads, and enough cleaningcloths to stretch from Lands End to John O'Groats – and backagain!

Although most customers support Arriva's efforts to make theirtravelling environment clean and pleasant, there are those wholeave their rubbish behind. And its not just old bus tickets andsweet wrappers – unusual lost property items such as a double bassand an artificial limb have been forgotten and all are kept safelyat one of Arriva's 100 lost property offices across thecountry.

Detailed cleaning schedules spell out how often individualcleaning jobs must be performed, ranging from clearing litter –more than half a million bin bags of litter is collected every yearfrom Arriva buses – daily sweeping and mopping, through weekly andmonthly programmes to some really deep-clean annual cleaningtasks.
