Swansea trains and 'all that jazz'

Music will be brought to the ears of passengers travelling onthe Heart of Wales Line on Sunday 2 February 2006 as an Arriva'jazz' train makes its journey between Swansea and Llandovery.

'The Creole Jazz Quartet' has been accompanying selected ArrivaTrains Wales Sunday services on the 120-mile Heart of Wales Linefor over a year and have proved hugely popular with rail passengersand day trippers.

The jazz trains coincide with a 'Rail and Roast' package whichruns every Sunday where travellers can combine a scenic trip withSunday lunch at one of the many pubs and hotels along the line.

Julian Viggers, station manager for Arriva Trains Wales,said:

A scenic trip along the Heart of Wales Line accompaniedby 'live' jazz is a fantastic way to travel - stopping at one ofthe many pubs along the way for a Sunday roast completes an idealday out.

The jazz train leaves Swansea at 11.06am, calling at Gowerton(11.17) and Llanelli (11.26) and arriving at Llandeilo (12.03),Llangadog (12.15), Llanwrda (12.19) and Llandovery (12.25) in timefor Sunday lunch. Full train times and a list of participating pubsand hotels can be obtained by picking up a leaflet at Neath, PortTalbot, Swansea and Llanelli Stations or by visitingwww.heart-of-wales.co.uk/events. Return trains leave Llandovery at 2.34pm and 6.51pm.

Seats on the popular jazz train can be reserved by calling in toany Arriva Trains Wales staffed station. Meals should be booked inadvance to avoid disappointment.

Sample fares, excluding lunch, include Swansea-Llandovery for£5.60 return and Llanelli-Llandeilo for £3.10 return.Reductions for group travellers and holders of CarmarthenshireCounty Council bus passes are also available.

Jazz trains will also run on Sunday 5 March and on Mother's Day,Sunday 26 March 2006.
